Kymin’s annual summer trip 2021
With the team looking forward to and certainly deserving their annual team summer trip, we were determined to organise something this year to give them an afternoon off and make the most of this incredible July weather.
In years past, our yearly outing has allowed us to travel further afield to destinations including Weymouth, Dartmouth, Torquay, Plymouth and Bournemouth to name but a few, however, with the current situation we were not sure it was the right thing to take the group to the coast with the masses, so we opted for something a bit closer to home, but in an equally awesome setting.
On Wednesday 14th July, we closed the office for the afternoon and headed a few miles up the road to Cwmcarn Forest Drive for a relaxing afternoon and BBQ. We know the forest drive very well at Kymin, having used it for multiple training sessions for past charity events including the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge. With the Forest Drive having only recently been reopened to the public, after a refit to many of it’s picnic areas and public play areas, we were keen to check out the views from Car Park 6 which didn’t disappoint! With epic views on offer over Risca, Newport and beyond to the Severn Estuary, it really was the perfect day to enjoy a BBQ within this epic Welsh landscape.
With most of our team members in attendance they brought with them cakes, pies and salad to compliment our BBQ, with drinks being enjoyed in the hot weather.
We had a great time up at Cwmcarn and will definitely go there again as it is so accessible and a perfect relaxing retreat, to give the team a break from the daily office environment. It definitely comes highly recommended!
With the afternoon coming to a close, some of the team decided to walk up to Twmbarlwm to take in the amazing views on offer across the channel. Here are some photo’s from our day.
Enjoy.

Views to England
Offering breath-taking panoramic views of the surrounding towns and the picturesque Severn estuary, this area truly is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the forest drive, and a photo opportunity must! With pretty picnic areas and a play area for the children, this is a perfect place to spend the afternoon.
